Feb 2027 - Highlights of Tanzania's National Parks
February is Tanzania's prime green-season spectacle. In Ngorongoro Ndutu, millions of wildebeest and zebras synchronize their calving peak, dropping 8,000 newborns daily; this explosive abundance draws Africa's highest concentration of apex predators for intense daytime action. Concurrently, millions of lesser flamingos gather to breed at Lake Manyara and the dramatic pink waters of Lake Natron, offering an exclusive, high-impact wildlife viewing experience tailored for premium clientele.

Below are the highlights of each national park and area during this period:

Lake Natron :
In February, up to 75% of East Africa’s lesser flamingos gather here, turning the lake a surreal pink due to halophilic microorganisms. Guided walks with Maasai warriors offer authentic nomadic engagement.

Lake Manyara National Park
Tree-Climbing Lions: Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its unique tree-climbing lions, and the denser foliage during the rainy season increases the chances of spotting them lounging in trees.
Flamingos and Waterbirds: In late March, the lake’s water levels are ideal, attracting flocks of flamingos, pelicans, and other waterbirds, creating a spectacular pink and white scene along the lake's edge.

Serengeti National Park & Ikoma Wildlife Management Area
Great Migration Hotspot: The southern and central regions of Serengeti National Park, especially around Lake Ndutu, witness parts of the wildebeest and zebra migration, offering a breathtaking spectacle.
Newborn Animals: The rainy season is a breeding period, and you may spot newborn wildebeests, giraffe calves, or lion cubs, adding heartwarming moments to your journey.
Active Predators: Lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are more active during this time, pursuing abundant prey, making for thrilling wildlife sightings.

Ngorongoro Crater
Eighth Wonder of the World: This massive crater, known as “Africa’s Eden,” bursts with life during the rainy season, with its grasslands and lakes teeming with diverse wildlife.
Big Five: The Ngorongoro Crater is an ideal spot to observe the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), especially the endangered black rhino, which is more frequently seen in open areas during the rainy season.

Ngorongoro Ndutu Area:
Witness the raw spectacle of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest giving birth within a compressed few-week window. This influx of vulnerable prey draws the highest concentration of large cats in Africa, making it the prime season to capture cheetah pursuits and lion ambushes.

12FEB - Cats and Calves!

Today you will enjoy a game drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, around Lake Ndutu, an area famous for being home to 6 species of Big Cats: the lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, serval, and African wildcat, and the famous wildlife spectacle: the Calving Season (which takes place from February till March).
