詩巴丹島到了70年代，被法國人 Jacques Yves Cousteau發現島下「海龜冢」秘境，並製作成紀錄片後一舉成名。 現在被世界自然基金評為世界 10 大珊瑚潛點之一，因為環保及保安理由，島上已不准住宿，而且每日限120人前往，所以水質及海洋生態保育得非常好。 詩巴丹小島附近潛點非常多，例如海狼魚 (Barracuda Point)、Coral Garden、Hanging Gardens、Midreef、南角、海龜冢等。
