Upon arrival meet your driver, from Zagreb airport the tour goes to the city centre to settle down, then it starts with a visit to the upper town, old town which is called Gradec. The old town was built in 13th century, and the old city gate called the Stone Gate (Kamenita vrata) is kept ever since then. Zagreb is the capital of Croatia. The specially planned green design spread over Zagreb urban area to form a Lenuci’s Horseshoe is a wonderful scene. Other recommended destinations include St. Mark Church, Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Mirogoj Cemetery, Croatian National Theater, Main Square (Trg Bana Josip Jelačića), King Tomislav Square, Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square and Tkalčićeva Street famous for many nice cafés.
ZAGREB - LJUBLJANA
After breakfast, we drive from Zagreb to Ljubljana in neighboring country Slovenia. Ljubljana is a city with thousand years of history. There is a river passing through the old city, and in spring there are green willows along the riverside accompanied with elegant houses along the riverbank. Ljubljana is definitely city of charm and leisure. Recommended destinations include St. Nikolas Cathedral, Ljubljana Castel, Town Hall (Rotovž), Town Square (Mestni Trg), Prešernov Square, Triple Bridge (Tromostovje) and Old Square (Stari Trg).
LJUBLJANA - LAKE BLED - LJUBLJANA
After breakfast, we drive from Ljubljana to the world renowned natural scene of Slovenia, the Bled Lake. One of the attractions of Bled Lake is the islet inside the lake which is called Blejski Otok. On this islet, there is a chapel of Assumption of the Virgin Mary. You can rent a boat to get to the islet to enjoy the unique beautiful scenery inside the lake as well as on the islet. The blue water lake is surrounded by the mountains full of green coloured trees. In addition, there is one, over one thousand years old castle situated on the cliff, which gives an impression as if being in a fairy tale. For a wonderful panoramic view of the lake, you can go in the castle which is also a museum nowadays. You can walk around the lake or ride a bike or take a mini train. Apart from the elegant Blad Lake, there is the surrounding Straža hill which is also a skiing resort in winter. During summer season Straža hill offers one exciting activity called “Z” shape rail with a tackle cabin where people can slide down the hill. After this day tour in Bled, we drive back to Ljubljana for dinner and rest.
LJUBLJANA - POSTOJNA CAVE - PREDJAMSKI CASTLE - VRSAR
After breakfast, we leave for another wonderful natural scene in Slovenia, Postojna Cave. The cave is 20 km length in total. Travellers cannot walk through the whole cave. However there is mini train as a type of transportation in the cave which takes tourists for a 4km long ride and another part of exploring the cave is the 1.7 km long trail which requires walking. In the cave there are everywhere many weird shaped stalactites. The temperature inside of the cave is always around 10degc and there is echo sound around that creates a peculiar atmosphere. Not too far away from Postojna Cave, there is a Predjamski Castle. This white castle slightly embedded in the gray colored hill creates a very unique scene. After visiting the castle, we drive to the Slovenian coast towards town Vrsar.
VRSAR - ROVINJ - TRUFFLE DEMONSTRATION - PLITVICE NP
Leaving Slovenia after breakfast, we drive to northern west region of Croatia, Istria Peninsula. We drive to a fish village Rovinj which was explored in recent years only. Do you remember the TV advertisement for Canon EOS 500D (“My Journey”)? That beautiful area through which the girl in the TV ad was walking is Rovinj. The most characteristic sceneries in Rovinj are the coastal cottages built directly at the sea. Blue sky and blue sea combined with the colorful outer walls and roofs are just fantastic. Then transfer to Truffle Farm for Truffle demonstration. It will last for 45-60min. English Speaking Escort will be offered by the Truffle Farm, then a Licensed Truffle Hunter and his trained dogs will do demonstration for the group, what the clients need to do is to follow the hunter and the dogs in wooden village to seek for truffle. The group is private group. After the hunting demonstration, four dishes lunch with truffle are ready to enjoy. After that we drive to the world renowned natural scene of Croatia, Plitvice Lakes National Park and stay overnight nearby the National Park .
PLITVICE NP - ZADAR
After breakfast, we start to travel through Plitvice National Park. This Park is listed in UNESCO's Register of World Natural Heritages cause of its plenty beautiful cascades and waterfalls. You can enjoy lakes scenery by taking a boat depending on the weather conditions. Plitvice Lakes demonstrate their beauty with different colors in different seasons. In spring and summer lakes look blue or green, while sticks and lime stones add other colors. Surrounding trees and the misty waterfalls are adding to the lakes “beyond beautiful” description. In autumn these lakes are full off falling leaves. In winter the coldness tends to freeze the water. Plitvice Lakes are divided into two regions of the upper and lower lakes and joined from the beginning to the end, totally 8 kilometers long. Lower lakes region is more popular because of its many magnificent waterfalls in all sizes. Upper Lakes region is relative silent. Before evening, we drive to the coastal city Zadar and take dinner there. After dinner, it is worth going to the two amazing infrastructures of art, Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun, to discover how power of nature can be converted into music and visual art. You can enjoy the Adriatic Sea performing organ music and at the same time see the sun shining in the night.
ZADAR - SPLIT
After breakfast we will drive to Croatia’s 2nd largest city Split. We would spend the whole day in Split. Diocletian Palace is listed in UNESCO's Register of World Heritage. This Roman Emperor’s palace, with over 1700-years old history, has been kept very well. Peristyle in the palace, St. Duje Cathedral and the polished marble streets are all built in Roman style. Regarding Peristyle, it used to be a place for people showing their loyalty to Diocletian. St. Duje Cathedral was built on Diocletian's mausoleum. Ridiculously, Diocletian who kept persecuting Christians would never expect the original site of his own mausoleum to finally become a cathedral. The relic of a martyr St. Dujam (patron Saint of Split) is also placed in the cathedral. There is a statue of Grgur of Nin (a national bishop of the 10th century) around 20 feet high just outside the palace. According to the custom, local people and visitors would like to polish the toe of the statue to make a wish. Then we will have dinner, enjoy local seafood and beautiful seashores of Split.
SPLIT - MALI STON - DUBROVNIK
After breakfast we drive to Mali Ston for a Oyster Tasting with chartered boat trip. Tour begins in front of a pier at Mali Ston, where clients will be boarding there and the boat (for 20 persons’ size) will take them to the pontoon for oyster’s farm at Mali Ston Bay. The host will draw fresh oysters from the sea and open them in front of the client. He will tell you a story about oysters, how and why are these shells from the Mali Ston so much appreciated and known. After oyster tasting (2-3 oysters for free) and tasting of homemade brandy or wine, the boat will bring client back to pier. It lasts for about 45min. Then we will drive to Dubrovnik (1 hour) where the old city is the number one destination for most of the travellers.
There were inhabitants in Dubrovnik since 7th century. After several hundred years of development, in the 12th century, Dubrovnik had become the most glaring and huge urban city along the Adriatic Sea. Dubrovnik Old City is listed in UNESCO's Register of World Heritage. City itself is surrounded by the wall and walking along the city wall is a simple way to catch stunning views of Dubrovnik. Taking a cable car one can also enjoy Adriatic seascapes within the range of 60 kilometers distance. Reportedly, the fantastic seaside of this city was used in “Kiki's Delivery Service”, the production of Japanese animation master Miyazaki Hayao, which was inspired by several European cities and one of them was Dubrovnik Old City of Croatia. Having dinner in the old city, one can enjoy local seafood and wonderful historical scenes.
